You can take a custom suit home by carrying it in a garment bag, folding it carefully into your luggage, wearing it, or asking the shop about hotel delivery and shipping. Decide before you order. A suit can be ready 1 to 2 days after your fitting, so the choice of carrying or shipping can be settled at the fitting.
Your options at a glance
- Carry it in a garment bag as hand luggage.
- Pack it carefully in your suitcase.
- Wear it on the journey.
- Have it delivered to your hotel.
- Have it shipped home.
Ask the shop which of these it can help with. Delivery and shipping depend on the order and the time available. Because a suit can be ready 1 to 2 days after your fitting, tell us your departure date and plan the fitting early enough to collect it, and raise delivery when you place the order, not on your last day.
Option 1: Garment bag as hand luggage
This is the best way to avoid creasing. Many airlines allow a garment bag in the cabin, but rules vary by airline and fare, so check your airline’s policy ahead of time. If space is limited, flight crew may or may not have room to hang it, so do not rely on that.
Option 2: Packing it in a suitcase
A well-packed suit travels fine:
- Button the jacket and lay it face down, with the shoulders folded in.
- Fold the sleeves inside, then fold the jacket once and place it flat on top of your clothes.
- Fold trousers along the crease, over a piece of tissue paper if you have it.
- Keep it on top of the pile so nothing heavy sits on it.
Hang it up as soon as you arrive and let it rest. Many creases drop out overnight, and a steamer or iron on a low setting with a cloth does the rest.
Option 3: Wear it
If you are attending an event soon after landing, wearing the suit saves packing. Air-conditioned cabins can be cold, but a suit in tropical heat on the way to the airport can be uncomfortable, so weigh up the trade-off.
Option 4: Hotel delivery
Ask if the shop can bring the finished garment to your hotel. This saves a journey, especially if you are staying away from Patong. See getting to Bangla Road for the alternative.
Option 5: Shipping home
If you are leaving before the work is done or do not want to carry it, ask about shipping. Things to ask:
- Who arranges and pays for the shipping?
- Which service will be used, and is it tracked and insured?
- How will you check the fit? Customs duties and taxes at your end can apply.
- What if it needs an alteration after arrival?
A suit that has not had a final fitting cannot be checked before it leaves, so decide whether that is acceptable. Read how many fittings you need.
Gowns and delicate pieces
Gowns with beads, lace or full skirts need more careful packing: tissue between layers, a large box or a proper garment bag. Ask the shop how it would pack yours.
Protect yourself
- Keep your order record and a photo of the finished garment.
- Check the garment fully before leaving the shop.
- Keep the shop’s phone number: +66 87 470 6432.

Common questions
Will my suit get creased in a suitcase?
Some creasing is normal and mostly drops out when hung or steamed. A garment bag in the cabin is the safest way.
Can I wear the suit through the airport?
Yes. Many people do, particularly if they are going straight to an event.
Do I have to pay duty on a suit I bring home?
Rules differ by country and by value. Check your own customs rules before you travel.
What if I need a small alteration after I land?
A local tailor can usually handle minor adjustments, though it is better to fix things before you leave.
